Audrey Hepburn's iconic Oscars dress is being put up for auction, and is expected to fetch up to £60,000 when it goes under the hammer later this month.
Worn by the legendary beauty when she collected her Best Actress Academy Award for her role in 'Roman Holiday' in 1952, the lace gown - adapted from a version designed by Edith Head - is expected to fetch up to £60,000 when it goes under the hammer later this month. van Heemstra, who later gave it to a family friend living in America. However, the gown had been stashed away at the bottom of a wardrobe until they recently decided to sell it. The sale - which will take place on November 29 at La Galleria in London's Pall Mall - will be hosted by Kerry-Anne Auctions, the same company that sold the infamous sheer dress worn by Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, when she participated in a university fashion show in 2002. In March, the see-through dress - which is said to have first attracted Prince William to his future wife - sold for £78,000 at auction after attracting a huge amount of interest from all over the world.
