On "America's Next Top Model," I thought the music video challenge was going to be a trainwreck, but it turns out I was wrong. The Challenge Some Madison girl is on the Tyra Mail screen giving make-up tips. I'm sorry, but I work on the internet and I have no idea who this is. Hmm. It turns out the challenge is writing a song and starring in a music video. Um, yikes. This so unfair for the girls who aren't musically inclined. And it's not something a non-musically-inclined person would even care about doing. *headsmack* Angelea comments, "We're going to be shooting a music video and it will be viral." You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means. Jay then says, "This can totally change your life. Think how going viral worked for Rebecca Black and Justin Bieber." Um, first of all - Rebecca Black and Justin Bieber are NOT the same. Secondly, they keep saying "giong viral" like it's something you sign up for. I'm going to make a video and I'd like it to go viral, please. Mark me down for a yes in the "viral" column. This is like having a conversation with my grandmother, except my actual grandmothers (both the alive one and the deceased one, before she passed) were very tech savvy. My living Gram has an iPad II, for crying out loud. The challenge part is they have a track and have 20 minutes to write their lyrics. Um, holy crap on a stick. I am a decent singer, with a lot of performing experience and that would make me want to cry. The winner gets a loved one flown in. OK, when did this turn into "Survivor"? A loved one?! Lisa and Angelea are the final two, but Lisa pulls it out. The Studio The girls all have to insert "pot ledom" into their song. THe exact phrase is "pot ledom, that's top model backwards." Why? Because Tyra said so. Even though it's a stupid idea. Case in point - Allison wrote a really emotional song about her dead father and now she has to shoe-horn that stupid phrase in and she's completely freaking out about it. She totally pulls it out, though, and has a very Tori Amos vibe happening. The song titles are a crack up. Angelea's is "I'm Here," Shannon's is "World Go Round," Allison's is "Underwater," Laura's is "Southern Sweet Girl," Dominique's is "Tooch Ya Booty," Alexandria's is "Go, Go, Go..." and Lisa's is "I Be Like Whoa." Everybody does a pretty good job, save Shannon and Laura. They can't really sing. The Music Video Shoot Game is there to direct them and Angelea loses her mind all over the place, it's adorable. In the videos, Dominique is totally channeling Beyonce. Alexandria looks a bit insane and then gets all Tawny Kitaen on us. Tyra shows up looking like a "Flashdance" dancer mated with a dodo bird. She has Keenan Cahill in tow, who totally freaks me out. Sorry. And I'm with Alexandria - their videos are going to be crazy (and not in a good way). Lisa rocks her video, while Laura is adorable in a give-you-diabetes kind of way. Angelea is not great, which is a surprise. Allison is ghostly and haunting, Game calls her face "a work of art." It's why I love Allison the most. She could totally steal this from Lisa. Panel The videos are awesome, except for the stupid Tyra/Keenan parts. God in heaven, what was she thinking?! Seriously, Tyra. Shut up. Go away. Dominique's video is OK, but nothing special. Laura's is a little scary, like Taylor Swift on crack. Angelea doesn't give good face but the very end when she giggles is adorable. More of that, please. Tyra comments on hers, "Now, people are hearing with their eyes." WHAT DOES THAT EVEN MEAN?! Alexandria's video is boring and too reserved, with patented Alexandria faces. Her voice reminds me of someone famous's voice, but I can't place it. Let me know in the comments if you know what I'm thinking. Shannon's video should be on CMT, the way she wanders through a clothesline-looking thing and sings about love. It's very milquetoast. Lisa's is awesome. She's a total performer. Allison's video is totally reminding me of the song "Falling" by Julee Cruise from "Twin Peaks." It's crazy awesome. It's so editorial. Game calls her the most weirdly beautiful person he's ever met. I think Allison clearly wins, she's so outside the box in a way Lisa is not. But either one is fine. Who goes home? I think Shannon or Alexandria's time has come. If I have to pick one, it's Shannon. It's so cute how smitten Game is with Allison. Elimination The best video goes to Allison. Good for her. Next up are Lisa, Dominique, Laura and Shannon. What?! No way. Booooo. So the bottom 2 are Alexandria and Angelea. That is a major bummer, it was totally Shannon's time to go. But Alexandria goes. That's no huge loss. Next week: Greece! Source "Pot Ledom" totally ruined the music videos. It was so awkward and unnecessary. But other than that I liked most of them.
